Wow, congrats your warrior is level 20.. -.-
Who cares if you got a crystalline sword in your first or second months, that doesn't mean you're good or your warrior is any. When will people learn that weapon/armor skins don't mean anything! 15k armor is not any better than 1.5k armor with the same stats..

Mods, please close this. I cannot take anymore this; we already established that it's preference.

I just want to say, yes, it is mostly preference. It is also down to what you're planning on fighting. Of course, there's also the PvP/PvE aspect as well.

I don't know much about PvP, and certainly nothing about PvP Warriors, so I won't even pretend to touch that. In PvE, I have a little experience (no exaggeration, just a little), but what I do know is that the Sword [skills & weapon itself] is perfectly compareable to the Axe [skills & weapon].

It's like that for a reason, it's called balance. Now this doesn't mean that you can pit a Sword warrior against an Axe warrior and they will be perfectly matched. There is that sense of Paper/Rock/Scissors in GW. A sword warrior will more than likely defeat an Axe warrior (of comparable skill level) one on one simply because of the Riposte skills.

Each have their uses in PvE, where Sword warriors are more Assassin-esque, good at dishing out damage to single targets consistently, Axe warriors are a little better at attacking multiple targets and/or spiking (which is also why Axe skills have higher average Adrenaline costs). It all depends on what you want to accomplish and what your play style is.

Maybe I'll have to buy a nice sword and play around with it to get a feel for myself. Thank you for your comments.

-Swords are much better for defense. (Heavy Armor, Riposte/Stance Tanks)
-Axes are hybrid Atk./Def. (Lighter Armor, usually + energy, multi-target attacks, interrupt/stances defense.)
-Hammers are strict Atk. (Assuming they don't get spiked in 2 seconds.)

I have an axe war and a sword war. I have used hammers but they didn't suit me.

Personal preference FTW!

Eviscrete sucks, oop i blocked it, you going to get 8 more adren? with low req adren you are given more chances, unlike wasting time to get a lot of adren to get all in 1, thats kinda like hammer damage, wastes time for a powerful blow. I say the best warrior elite skill is warrior endurance, that with sword or hammer warrior makes them WAY better than axe warriors. And for me bringing in riptoses, I never said that, I said they can COUNTER them. You know CANNOT BE BLOCKED. More sword skills can counter those skills. Because someone ALWAYS brings 75% to block or evade. Yeah if you read, higher req means more damage. so yep, those req 8 weapons are bad bad damage, feel sorry for ya, I just get em to sell lol.

for the bazillionth time; req does not effect damage.

Personally I prefer sword, because of the welcome boost it received in factions, and for the massive spike that Final Thrust provides.

I like Dragon Slash alot

Sometimes I use Dragon Slash with For Great Justice! and just spam all my attacks as fast as I can. Truly an insane amount of damage there for 20 seconds. Although the one thing I don't like about it is I can use it with Final Thrust. It just doesn't synergize with the whole 'losing all adrenaline' thing and dragon slash.

Why the hell should you wear 'heavy armour' with swords and 'lighter armour' with axes? For that matter, what armour would you consider light and which would you call heavy?

Swords>HAMMERS>Axes
Axes have a higher DPS than hammers when you factor in skills ( that's not to say they're better) And look at the skills that hit through blocks and evades; we're talking about Pure Strike and similarly unimpressive skills- who's going to pack those?

That's not a fact. You made it up just there and you know it.

Stop working under the assumption that people apart from yourself take stance tanks into PvP.

Will one of you people seriously take a look at one of the numerous sword vs axes vs hammers debates, where posters more mathematically inclined than myself explain in crystal clear detail the benefits and drawbacks of the respective weapons?
